Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Prince Edward Island on July 3 and 4 as part of their first visit to Canada as a married couple. As an Islander I was proud that Prince William and Princess Kate choose to visit our beautiful PEI during the Royal Tour 2011.

Prince William got flowers at Charlottetown’s airport

and of course so did Princess Kate. After that they were welcomed to Prince Edward Island by officials.

Avonlea Village of Anne of Green Gables

Avonlea Village located in Cavendish is one of my favorite attractions on Prince Edward Island. Here you can meet Anne of Green Gables the character of Prince Edward Island’s worldwide famous author Lucy Maud Montgomery. Anne, Diana Barry Gilbert, Josie Pye, Mathew and Marilla Cuthbert, Rachel Lynde they and more of their friends will together with you (if you wish) play games between the live performance of stories from the book. To be here is truly to be traveling back in time no matter your age you will have fun.

Live theater at the Stage.

Take a look in the barn to see the animals and take a ride with the horse carriage.

Some of my favorite musicians working here in Avonlea and if you miss their performances you have missed one of the best music experience on PEI. So make sure you check the schedule when they play. They like everyone in Avonlea Village are friendly and will be happy to both talk with you and sign the CD’s with their music that I highly recommend you to buy as it’s the perfect memory to bring home.

  • Brendan Peters - PEI's Best Spoons Player
  • Leon Gallant - Renowned Island Singer/Songwriter
  • RĂ©mi Arsenault - Recipient of the Prince Edward Island Musician of the Year Award
  • Mike Pendergast - PEI's most popular children's entertainer

Leon Gallant singing a song can it be down by the bay? One of my favorite songs. Usually you can request a song and if Mike Pendergast is there I highly recommend you to ask for three little sailors.

Everyone is invited to the square dance and if you can’t dance feel free to clap.

Anne giving a Guided Tour of Avonlea Village

If you want to but souvenirs and gifts you will find that in these stores available on different locations around the Village: Anne of Green Gables Store, Anne of Green Gables Chocolates, Avonlea General Store, Avonlea Artisans' Studio

I and my husband have been regular visitors of Avonlea Village sense 2002. There is something with this place that just keep drawing us back. I would happily move into and live my life in this Village.

For more information about daily events, opening hours, fees and special events go to  Avonlea Village of Anne of Green Gables

Anne of Green Gables

Green Gables, located in Cavendish in the Prince Edward Island National Park, is a popular tourist destination. Each year hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world visit the site which inspired the setting for L.M. Montgomery to create her beloved tale of a red-haired orphan,Anne of Green Gables. In addition to the Green Gables House, several museums and sites invite visitors to learn more about Anne and Montgomery.

This farmhouse in Cavendish, a National Historic Site, was used by author Lucy Maud Montgomery as the setting for ‘Anne of Green Gables’.

If you are walking on lovers lane or in the beautiful garden it’s easy to understand why Lucy Maud Montgomery picked this lovely place as home for her character Anne.

More info and to see the inside of the house go to Green Gables this is a Place on PEI you will love to visit. And if you wish to buy a Video or an Anne Doll you will find that and more in the gift shop.

Prince Edward Island is divided into three counties - Kings, Queens, and Prince. Originally created after the English model during the surveying and subdivision of the Island in the 1760's, the counties now serve as census subdivisions for Statistics Canada.

Kings County, in the eastern portion of the Island, is the smallest, most rural, and least populated.

Queens County in the central portion of the Island, is the province’s most urban county and the home of the capital city of Charlottetown.

Prince County, in the western portion of the Island, is the home of Summerside, and the Confederation Bridge.

Welcome to Prince Edward Island Blog

Prince Edward Island or PEI for short is in my eyes a beautiful sparkling gem in the lively ocean. When I and my husband first came here on a Vacation 2002 due to my love for Anne of Green Gable and Road to Avonlea the view from the airplane window took our breath away!

After experiencing all Anne of Green Gables sights around the Island, the live theater in Avonlea Village,

fantastic red sand beaches, sand dunes, dramatic cliffs, beautiful mud roads and trails, lighthouses,

national parks, golf courses, extraordinary seafood, “the spud from the big red mud” potato, the rich wildlife, art, culture, history and music and best of all the nice and friendly people on PEI we couldn't stay away! Vacation after vacation we kept coming back until we one day decided to move here for good.

On this blog you will find tips and help to make your visit on PEI to a memory you never will forget and maybe you like us will fall in love with this little corner of the earth that I like to call paradise.
